The Boldbrain Startup Challenge is an accelerator program based in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland, targeting early-stage startups and entrepreneurs with innovative ideas. Its mission is to support the development and growth of new businesses in the region by providing tailored support, coaching, workshops, and a final competition with substantial cash and in-kind prizes.
Program Highlights
- Comprehensive Support: Participants receive ongoing and personalized assistance, including coaching from professionals with diverse backgrounds and skills, active in the local business community. This guidance helps teams develop their goals, create business plans, and refine their pitches for various audiences.
- Educational Workshops: The program offers six group workshops covering essential topics such as Value Proposition Design, financial challenges, effective pitching, sustainability, legal issues, and intellectual property rights. These sessions are conducted by experts and emphasize hands-on experience for lasting learning.
- Networking Opportunities: Boldbrain organizes events like the Kick-off Meeting, Mid-Term Event, Community Events, Sponsor Night, and the Award Ceremony. These gatherings facilitate connections among participants, coaches, sponsors, and other stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Substantial Prizes: The top five projects share cash prizes totaling CHF 120,000, with additional in-kind prizes exceeding CHF 80,000. The Award Ceremony, held at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano, serves as a showcase of innovation in Ticino, where finalists present their projects to a large audience, including political authorities, sponsors, and business leaders.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Boldbrain Startup Challenge, projects must:
- Be proposed by teams of at least two individuals.
- If already registered as a company, not be more than three years old at the time of application.
- Be willing to develop the project in Ticino.
- Not have completed another acceleration program.
- Ensure at least one team member participates in all mandatory events and meetings.
- Submit the required documentation in English.
